(Cincinnati) -- On a vote with no dissention, Cincinnati has a new City Manager. Harry Black was confirmed, Wednesday afternoon, by City Council, 8-0. (Christopher Smitherman was absent.)
Black will start on the job as the 15th City Manager, September 8th.
"I am humbled and honored to have been chosen," Black said. "I want to thank Mayor Cranley and the City Council for this incredible opportunity. The magnitude of this assignment is not lost on me. I plan to give all I have to the City of Cincinnati. This is a city on the rise, and I pledge to work in partnership with all segments of our community to keep this great momentum going."
Black has been the Finance Director for the City of Baltimore since 2012.
He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Public Administration from Virginia State University, and a Master's Degree in Public Administration from the University of Virginia.
Black and his wife Sheryl have two children, a son and a daughter.
