Remember when M.I.A. flipped the bird during her guest appearance in MADONNA'S 2012 Super Bowl halftime show?
Well, a month after that happened, the NFL sued M.I.A. . . . demanding $1.5 MILLION from her. We don't know why it took the world so long to find out about this, but the legal battle is still going on.
The league claims she violated her contract, even though they didn't pay her for her appearance.
Supposedly, she signed a deal, where she agreed to, quote, "ensure that all elements of [her] performance, including [her] wardrobe, shall be consistent with [the NFL's] goodwill and reputation for wholesomeness."
M.I.A.'s lawyer had this to say in response: Quote, "The NFL's claimed reputation for wholesomeness is hilarious . . . [because] of the weekly felonies committed by its stars, the bounties placed by coaches on opposing players . . .
"The homophobic and racist comments uttered by its players, the complete disregard for the health of players and the premature deaths that have resulted from same . . .
"And the raping of public entities ready to sacrifice public funds to attract teams."
